Sheryl Larsen (BMC) – "SQL Tuning in the Digital World"

The Digital World includes all kinds of transactions most of which contain SQL. Trapping and fixing nonperforming SQL has gotten more complicated or has it? The speed at which SQL performance problems need to be resolved has shrunken to .1ms or 0 – meaning that they should never happen. Come learn tips and techniques that can assist you in today’s Digital World.

Objective 1: When your monitors find this, what should you do?
Objective 2: What crazy SQL can do to you?
Objective 3: Finding the most expensive query running in the peak
Objective 4: Some old and new tuning techniques
Objective 5: Monetize your MLC savings with compares

Presentation #3
David Simpson (Themis Inc) - "Stored Procedures & SQL PL"

Learn to code simple programs in the SQL Procedure Language (SQL PL). This is the language used by most stored procedures being written today on DB2 for LUW and z/OS. We’ll see the basics of the syntax and discover just how easy it is to code stored procedures using this language.

Presentation #4:
David Simpson and Tony Andrews (Themis Inc) - "Fun with SQL"

This session is an interactive, hands-on, fun way to learn more about the SQL language. Operating as a SQL Dojo, attendees will work in groups to solve a series of SQL challenges provided by the session leaders. Groups will alternate and share time on the keyboard in five minute segments. Each group will try to solve the challenge and can accept suggestions from other participants. Session leaders will provide possible solutions at the end. There will be a mix of small and big challenges - some easier, some more difficult. Show off your SQL mojo while enjoying this SQL dojo.
