Partitioned Tablespace Overview

Discuss the different types of Db2 Table Spaces; Simple, Segmented, LOB, XML, Index Controlled Partitioning, Table Controlled Partitioning, Partition by Growth, Partition by Range

High level overview of how they organize data for the Tables stored within them. DDL needed to create them. When were some of them deprecated. What does using a deprecated Tablespace mean to you? What is DB2 pushing as the standard for Tablespaces and what are the advantages of adopting what Db2 is pushing?

About the Speaker - Frank Rhodes (BMC)
Frank Rhodes started with BMC Software in 1995. In his current role he works to promote cross product coordination between the Database Administration products and the other BMC DB2 products. The products that he has primary responsibility for are ALTER for DB2, Change Manager for DB2, Catalog Manager for DB2, DASD Manager Plus for DB2, NGT STATS, NGT Utility Manager, Workbench for DB2 as well as BMC AMI DevOps for Db2.

Frank was a Developer on the Change Manager for DB2 product for over 10 years. His main areas of responsibilities being the development and maintenance for the Analysis Engine as well as the product’s user interface. Prior to joining the Change Manager Product team, he worked on the TIS Install for the Administrative products. He was the lead developer in charge of the initial implementation of a common install for all the DB2 products.

Prior to BMC, Frank worked as a Systems Programmer for IBM in support of NASA JSC’s administrative processors. He supported installation and maintenance of MVS products and oversaw implementing Automated Operation for IBM’s internal systems as well as NASA’s systems.

Frank holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the Texas A & M University.

Access mainframe Db2 using z/OS Connect EE RESTful APIs and Db2 REST services

A deep dive into the world of Db2 APIs and REST Services. We will see some exciting demos using Db2 APIs and walk through the simple process of creating a Db2 RESTful API using z/OS Connect EE.

Db2 v12 Update Updates (includes Db2 v11 update as well)

Db2 12 for z/OS has been generally available for 3.5 years and many customers are running Db2 12 in production. New features and functions continue to be delivered, plus new information about migration experiences and recommendations are available. This session will summarize all of this information, as well as identifying function that has also been included in Db2 11.

About the Speaker - Mark Rader
Mark Rader is a Db2 for z/OS specialist in the IBM Washington Systems Center. He has over 36 years of technical experience with IBM, and over 31 years with Db2 for z/OS. He has led many Db2 data sharing implementations and has presented a variety of topics at conferences, including IDUG, SHARE, IBM Technical University and at regional Db2 user group meetings. He has worked closely with Db2 development in delivering the Early Support Programs for Db2 10, Db2 11, and Db2 12. He is an author of redbooks on Parallel Sysplex application considerations, Db2 data sharing, and Db2 for z/OS distributed function.
